What this site stores, what it never sends anywhere, and what happens to a message if you send one.
Last updated 30 September 2026
1.The short version
The tool itself has no backend. A comparison is encoded in the page address and read by your own browser, so nothing about it ever reaches a server.
The only thing this site stores on your device is your light or dark theme choice. The only thing it ever receives from you is a message you choose to send through the contact form, and that goes straight to the form provider and to the author.
2.Information collected
Used on the tool, none of it leaves your device. The screen sizes, aspect ratios, resolutions, panel counts, orientation, and desk dimensions you enter are read in the browser, turned into measurements, and encoded into the query string so the link can be shared. That query string is the entire state of the tool.
Sent to us, only what you type into the contact form: your name, your email address, and your message. Those three fields are required so a reply is possible, and they are used to answer you.
Received automatically, the ordinary web request data any server records when you load a page, such as your IP address, browser user agent, and the page requested. We do not use it to build a profile of you.
3.How your information is used
The comparison you build is never sent anywhere. Two people opening the same link compute the same drawing independently, on their own machines.
- Contact form messages are read so the author can reply, and for nothing else.
- Server request logs are used to keep the site running and to diagnose faults.
- Nothing is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.
4.Cookies and local storage
This site sets no cookies of its own. It uses your browser’s local storage for one value: whether you chose the light or dark theme, under the key theme. That value never leaves your device, is not readable by any other site, and is removed when you clear site data. Google Analytics sets one first-party cookie of its own, _ga, discussed below.
The comparison in the address bar is not stored. It is part of the URL, which means your browser history may hold it like any other page you visited, and it travels to wherever you choose to share it.
5.Analytics and advertising
Page views are measured with Google Analytics. Its script loads only after your first interaction with a page: a click, a keypress, or a scroll. A visit where nothing is touched loads no analytics script at all, and Google receives nothing from it. From a counted visit, Google receives your IP address and the page requested, under its own privacy policy.
There is no tag manager, no advertising network, and no retargeting pixel. The measurement counts page views and nothing else.
6.Third-party services
Fonts are served from this site’s own domain rather than a font CDN, so loading a page does not tell a third party which pages you are reading.
Page views are measured by Google Analytics, a Google service. Its processing of that measurement is covered by its own privacy policy. The only other third party is the contact form provider, below.
The contact form is delivered by Formspree. Submitting it sends your name, email address, message, and the page you submitted from to Formspree, which processes the message and forwards it to the author. Their processing is covered by their own privacy policy.
7.Data security
The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic is encrypted in transit. Form submissions travel over the same encrypted connection.
No system is perfectly secure. Contact messages are handled in good faith and deleted once the conversation is finished, but you should not send anything through a form that you would not want stored in an inbox.
8.Your rights
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Because the only personal data we hold is what you chose to email, deleting it is straightforward: say so in a reply and it is removed.
You can also clear the theme value yourself at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings.
9.Children’s privacy
This site is an informational tool intended for adults and is not directed at children. No information is knowingly collected from anyone under 13.
10.Changes to this policy
If the site changes in a way that affects what is collected or stored, this page changes with it and the revision is dated at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
11.Contact
Questions about this policy, or a request about your data, go through the contact form. You can also reach the author on LinkedIn.
